Adobe I-9 Requires Valid State Configuration

The Adobe I-9 template does not enforce a valid state selection by default. This customization must be applied within the staffing agency’s Adobe Sign account.

Who does this impact?

Any Avionte Bold customer using Adobe I-9 templates that have not already followed the process outlined below.

What's the issue?

The Adobe I-9 template provided by Avionte cannot be configured in such a way that forces an employee to select a valid state in the form, as that type of customization can only be done once the document has been uploaded into your staffing agency's Adobe Sign account. By completing this one-time (per I-9 version) setup, you can ensure employees filling out the document will have to provide all required information.

What will happen if this isn't followed?

Employees filling out an I-9 that do not correctly select a valid state will not be prevented from completing the I-9. Once the document is completed and the information collected by the I-9 is transferred from the Adobe document to Bold, Bold will save all of the valid form data but leave the state designation blank. This may cause issues when an employee is placed on a job and DRMs in Classic may fire when processes that depend on a valid employee state designation occur, potentially causing delays and issues during year end.

How to configure a valid state selection requirement in your Adobe Library I-9:

  1. Log into the Adobe account https://aviontedev.na2.echosign.com/public/login 1.png

  2. Navigate to Manage > Templates > Find the I-9 form
  3. Edit the document
  4. Right-click on the State field and click "Edit"
