Matching Agent

Note: The Matching Agent is currently available only to early access participants. Submit a support ticket or contact your CSM to opt in.

The Matching Agent in Avionté BOLD surfaces a ranked list of candidates directly on the Candidate Management page for a Job. It evaluates talent across five configurable factors: pay, location, position categories, resume keyword match, and company history. Each candidate also includes a plain-language explanation of their ranking.

⚠ Important — AI Employment Law Notice: The Matching Agent is an AI-assisted tool that influences candidate ranking and selection decisions. Use of AI in employment decisions may trigger legal obligations depending on your jurisdiction. Consult your legal counsel before enabling this feature to determine what obligations apply to your organization.

Key Takeaways

  • The Matching Agent automatically generates a ranked candidate list when you visit the Candidate Management page.
  • Filter results by Talent Status, Certifications, Talent Office, and E-Verify Case Status, or apply a Saved Search for customizable filtering.
  • Adjust the relative weight of five sorting factors using the criteria sliders.
  • Admins can set organization-wide default sorting weights in Table Editor under Jobs > Auto Matcher Options.
  • Click and view a Match Reason by any candidate to explain their ranking.
  • Mass actions are available directly from the Matching Agent table.

Accessing the Matching Agent

The Matching Agent appears on the Talent Screen for a Job, below the Pipelined and Web Applicants sections. When you first visit a job's Talent page, the agent generates a ranked candidate list automatically using default criteria. Generation takes approximately 5 to 8 seconds, so the list will appear empty briefly. Once generated, results remain saved until you change the filtering or sorting criteria.

Note: The Matching Agent provides a rank, not a score. Candidates are ordered relative to one another based on your criteria. No numeric score is assigned.

Filtering Results

Filters exclude talent from the results before ranking is applied. Click the filter icon in the Matching Agent header to open the filter panel. Multiple filters can be active at the same time, and each category supports multiple selections.

Note: By default, the Matching Agent returns up to 25 talent, and applying filters may narrow this further. Talent flagged with a Company DNA (Do Not Assign) restriction for a job's company are also automatically excluded from that job's results; if the restriction is scoped to a specific office, the talent will still appear normally for jobs at other offices under that company.

FilterDescription
Talent StatusExclude talent based on their current status.
CertificationsFilter by certification category or specific certification.
Talent OfficeFilter by the talent's home office.
E-Verify Case StatusFilter by E-Verify case status.

Click Apply to regenerate the list with your selections. Click Clear All to remove all active filters.

⚠ E-Verify Compliance: Do not use the E-Verify Case Status filter to exclude candidates with a pending Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC) while the referral period is open. Doing so may violate your E-Verify MOU and the anti-discrimination provisions of the INA. Consult your legal counsel to ensure compliant usage.

Saved Search

The talent list can also be filtered using a saved Applicant Search. Click the Saved Search button in the Matching Agent header and select a search to apply it as a filter. This allows customizable, reusable criteria for more targeted results.

Adjusting Sorting Criteria

Sorting criteria control how the agent weighs each factor when ranking candidates. Click the settings icon in the Matching Agent header to open the criteria panel.

Five factors are available. Adjust the sliders to reflect the relative importance of each. The total cannot exceed 100%. Setting a factor to 0% removes it from consideration entirely; the agent will not evaluate that criterion when ranking candidates.

FactorWhat it compares
PayCompares the job's pay rate to the talent's own pay expectations. On the job side, this looks at the job's rate (pay or bill rate); on the talent side, it looks at the hourly and/or salary rate the talent has indicated they want. The matcher checks whether the job can afford what the talent is asking for.
LocationCompares the job's worksite address to the talent's home address on file. The closer a talent lives to the job site, the higher they score on this factor.
Position Categories / SkillsCompares the position category and required skills listed on the job to the skills and categories documented on the talent's profile. This only considers what's been entered on the talent's own profile, not their resume text.
Resume Keyword MatchCompares the text of the job description to the talent's uploaded resume and the skills listed in their Skills section. Because it relies on the wording of the job description, a brief or generic description gives the matcher less to work with.
Company HistoryCompares the job's company to the talent's own placement and work history. Talent who have previously worked for or been placed with that same company will score higher.

screenshot-updated-matching-weights.png

Note: What matters is the relative weight between factors, not the absolute values. Setting each slider to 10% produces the same ranking as setting each to 20%.

Click Save to regenerate the list with your updated criteria. The default setting is 20% for each factor with no filters applied.

Admins can configure default sorting weights for the entire organization by navigating to Jobs > Auto Matcher Options in Table Editor. Recruiters can still adjust weights per search, but the admin-set defaults establish a consistent baseline across the organization.

⚠ Compliance Considerations: Two weighting factors may carry additional legal risk and warrant review before adjusting significantly.

  • Location Weighting: Geographic proximity is a legitimate staffing factor, but it can correlate with protected characteristics like race or national origin. Heavy location weighting may warrant legal review for disparate impact in your market.
  • Company History Weighting: This factor favors candidates who have previously worked with your organization. If your historical workforce lacks diversity, heavy weighting here may replicate prior hiring patterns.

Consult your legal counsel before adjusting these weights significantly.

Match Reason

Each candidate in the list has a Match Reason available. Click the i icon in the Action column to open the Match Reason panel for that candidate.

The Match Reason explains why a candidate is ranked where they are, including why they are not ranked higher. The reason for the candidate ranked #2, for example, will explain what factors placed them below #1.

Taking Action on Matched Talent

Select one or more candidates using the checkboxes on the left.

Note: Human Review The Matching Agent is a tool to assist recruiter judgment, not replace it. Rankings should be treated as one input; final placement and hiring decisions must always involve human review of each candidate's full profile. Several state and local AI employment laws prohibit automated tools from serving as the sole basis for employment decisions.

A mass action bar appears at the bottom of the page with the following options:

  • Send Email
  • Send EEO
  • Pipeline
  • Mass Nominate
  • Add Tasks
  • Edit Flag
  • Mass Onboard

Note: The Matching Agent mass actions are a smaller set compared to the Pipeline and Web Applicants lists. To access additional actions, pipeline or nominate talent first.
